Events 2020

The year 2020 was overwhelmed by the global pandemic COVID-19 and, as such, most of the church activities were either cancelled or had to be dealt with in a manner much affected by the lockdown rules instituted by the government.
World Health Organization announced COVID-19 outbreak as a pandemic on the 11th March, 2020.
On Sunday, 15/03/2020, Pres Ramaphosa announced that all gatherings of more than a 100 people been cancelled to cope with the further spread of the COVID-19 virus.
United Church Council met on Monday, 16/03/2020 at 15:00 to discuss this request, and decided to suspend all services, Bible Studies and other church related activities until after Easter. It was decided to email the sermon and church notices to the congregation.
The National Coronavirus Command Council decided to enforce a nation-wide lockdown for 21 days with effect from midnight on Thursday 26 March, ending on April 16th, 2020.
On Thursday, 09/04/2020, Pres Ramaphosa announced the extension of the lockdown to end of April 2020.
On Thursday, 23/04/2020, Pres Ramaphosa announced that Level 4 of the lockdown will be in place as from 01/05/2020
On Sunday, 24/05/2020, Pres Ramaphosa announced that Level 3 of the lockdown will be in place as from 01/05/2020
On Tuesday, 26/05/2020, Pres Ramaphosa announced that church services will be allowed in level 3 – however, rules and regulations will have to be strictly adhered to.
On Monday, 01/06/2020 @ 10:00 Council decided to start the services on 28 June 2020 (for those who want to attend). If there were to be more than 50 people attending a service, UCS would have two services
